Critters
Here's your chance to meet the fiber producers in the fluff!
Every year there are sheep, goats, llamas and alpacas to meet and learn about.
Look for us near the shearing exhibit, near the old stage, both Saturday and Sunday. Don't forget your cameras and come prepared to feel fiber!
For specific information on some of the various breeds of sheep, goats and camelids (alpacas/llamas), bunnies and other fiber animals our members raise, please go to the MAVWA section and follow the link to the Member Directory (Advertising) section.
Shearing

As if seeing the animals in the fluff weren't enough, you also have the opportunity to see the fluff come off as freshly shorn fleeces “in the grease”.
For two days every fall, Kit Carson park hums to the tune of electric sheep shears as our shearer shows how it is done in one of the “power” shearing methods. Sheep shearing, an ancient and honorable trade, is demonstrated approximately every hour both days for the Wool Festival.
The old traditional method with hand shears is also demonstrated, while onlookers stare in amazement.
